Family travel to the Florida Keys is a great way to bring the family together. With upwards of 1700 islands, the Florida Keys has become one of the main vacation destinations for beach bums, cultural junkies and amateur fishers from across the country.Unlike the neighboring Caribbean Islands that were created from volcanic explosions, the Keys themselves were created by plants and animals. The upper Keys were at one point a coral reef, which became fossilized once the sea levels began to decline. The climate of the Keys has been described as tropical, which is more closely a resemblance of the Caribbean Islands than the rest of northern Florida. The land masses themselves are bordered on the right and left sides by the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico respectively.Beautifully preserved beaches serve as a home to some of the nation's most exotic plant and animal species, which would not be able to survive anywhere except in a tropic climate such as the Florida Keys. Natural beauty mixes with danger, however, as the Keys are home to the largest population of American crocodiles. Despite the danger, family travel to the Florida Keys has never been more popular.Key West has become the most popular island destination in the Florida Keys. From the historic streets to the white sand beaches, there is something for everyone.Despite the fact that the Keys are surrounded by beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters, they are not the only activities that visitors can take on. Golfing, camping and hiking are just some of the inland activities that visitors to the Keys can enjoy.Kayaking tours through wildlife preserves have become a great way to take in the sights, sounds and smells that make the Keys a distinct and exciting vacation destination. With rare breeds of plants and birds which can only be found in the Keys, a kayak tour is the best way to observe them in their natural habitat and a great idea for family travel to the Florida Keys.If you are planning on tying the knot anytime soon, you should know that the Keys are among the most beautiful places for a wedding in the United States. Beautiful beach resorts feature fantastic amenities that can make a beach wedding dream a possibility.
