greece3Over the years, Santorini Greece has earned a name for itself as the top tourist destination in Greece. The amazing landscape of the island, the mythological wonders, the enchanting historical and ancient sites, the architectural splendours, the exotic red and black sandy beaches and the tranquil sunset views attract millions of tourists from different regions and countries all over the world. Geographically, the island belongs to the Cycladic group and it is located on the southern Aegean Sea. Santorini has an excellent tourism infrastructure and provides different kinds of tour packages to visitors. Tour companies have both bus and boat tours that visitors try out during their stay on Santorini island, especially if they are staying for a couple of days or even for a few hours.

If you are interested in traveling the island by bus, then you should definitely try out the "Akrotiri Bus Tour." This bus will take on such a route where you will get the view of the magnificent caldera on the right side and the beautiful scenic villages on the left side. The first stop on this tour will be the Archaeological Museum in Fira, the capital of Santorini, where the tour guide will provide you with significant information on the various artifacts in the museum. The next stop is Prophet Elias Monastery that was built way back in 1711 A.D. on a supreme location, the highest peak of Santorini. On the way to this beautiful monastery, you will pass popular vineyards of the island and the picturesque Pyrgos village.

Then the bus will move south to Perissa, traveling through Megalochori. After this, the bus tour comes to an end stopping lastly at Canava, which is situated on the rim of the caldera, providing you with an unforgettable view of the Santorini volcano. At this place you will be lucky enough to taste some of the best wines that Santorini has to offer.

If you prefer traveling by boat, however, Santorini offers many boat excursion. Such is the Volcano and Hot Springs. On this boat excursion, you will visit the entire active volcanic site and the hot springs there. The guide will take you on a detailed tour of the volcanic site, where you are bound to come across fuming hot magma, indicating that the Santorini volcano is still active. There will be a break at the very popular Hot Springs. Here you will have plenty of time to take a bath in the geothermal waters. It is suggested that this water is good for people suffering from rheumatism or arthritis.

Another boat excursion does have similar stops at the active volcanic site and also at the hot springs. But, this trip further moves on to the beautiful and remote island of Thirasia. You will be given a short break and thus you have enough time to wander about the village close to the port, go for a swim and do some shopping as well. You can also have your lunch here. While returning back to the port, the boat stops for a while in Oia, where you can enjoy fantastic sunset views.

A third boat trip is rather lavish and exciting as well. This trip starts from the Old Port at Fira. As the boat moves towards the volcanic site, it stays close to the bays found there. The boat stops at the Palea Kameni Island. You will notice sulfur vapours arising from the surface of the water and thus the water temperature is pretty warm. The boat stops at this place for some time, so that you can have fun swimming here. Then, the boat sails on to Oia, where you are bound to appreciate the beautiful sunset view of Santorini with a complementary glass of wine.
