Have you ever considered visiting Cyprus?? Ever thought of a visit? Well maybe, just maybe it's worth a thought!
Cyprus is a Mediterranean island, situated to the south of Turkey and the north of Egypt. It's just 5 hours flying time from most major UK airports and flight prices are very reasonable indeed, particularly if you fly outside of the school holidays.
The island is steeped in history, and has all sorts of stories about the mythical gods. In fact it's called "The island of Love" as it's said to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.
Once you arrive here it's difficult not to fall in love with Cyprus. The people are warm and friendly and will do their utmost to make you feel welcome and special. Locals lead a very relaxed way of life and take everything in their stride. It's very much a case of why do today, what you can do tomorrow my friend.
At the Western end of the island is Paphos (Paphos district). Holidays in Paphos should be a consideration if you are thinking of visiting Cyprus. There's the beautiful Coral Bay beach which is a popular tourist hotspot. Then there's the old town of "Kato Paphos" and its' vibrant harbour where you can sit, relax, eat, drink and watch the world go by. There are some great activities in Paphos including Snake George's reptile park and the ever popular water park.
Moving eastwards along the coast brings you into Limassol district. Limassol is a vibrant trendy kind of place, full of bars and restaurants. Its' tourist strip is well known across the island and is a popular place to visit. For the more discerning visitor there's Pissouri and Parekklisia which are quieter and more serene and are ideal place to rent a holiday home from the owners direct.
Moving on from Limassol is Larnaca. Larnaca was once the major port town of the island but handed the baton on to Limassol some years ago. Larnaca is also the home to the country's major airport (although there is still a busy airport in Paphos).
Famagusta District is next and this is where you'll find the well known resort of Ayia Napa. Young people flock to this town every year for the party atmosphere. However, don't be put off by this, Ayia Napa itself has 2 parts - the busy end, and the quiet end. You can spend a lovely relaxing holiday in Napa without needing to go anywhere near a club. A trip to Nissi Beach is a must whilst you're on holiday in Ayia Napa.
Also in Famagusta is Protaras. This is a lovely place and is well worth a visit. The fantastic Konnos Bay has to be seen to be appreciated as does Fig Tree Bay.
